On Constitution Day, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang extended heartfelt greetings to the people of India. In a post shared on X, CM Tamang expressed his respect for those who contributed to the creation of the Indian Constitution and particularly honored Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution. He also paid tribute to the freedom fighters and martyrs who played an essential role in securing India’s democracy and the liberties that come with it.
Reaffirming the Core Values of the Constitution
CM Tamang stressed the importance of the core values of the Constitution, including justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. He called upon citizens to reaffirm their commitment to building an inclusive, harmonious, and progressive society where every individual has equal opportunities to thrive. He concluded his message by wishing everyone a Happy Constitution Day, encouraging them to actively participate in efforts that uphold these fundamental principles.
Meeting with the Governor of Sikkim
Earlier in the day, CM Tamang visited Governor Om Prakash Mathur at Old Sikkim House in Delhi. During the courtesy call, the CM provided a brief overview of the ongoing development schemes and programs in Sikkim. He also inquired about the Governor’s well-being and offered his warm greetings for Constitution Day.
Constitution Day Celebrations in Sikkim
Across Sikkim, various programs were organized to mark the 75th anniversary of the Constitution’s adoption. In Gyalshing District, Additional District Collector Suresh Rai led a mass reading of the Preamble, where key department heads and district administration staff participated. Additionally, in Pakyong, Additional District Collector Sangay Gyasto Bhutia administered the Constitution Day oath to employees at the District Administrative Centre (DAC).
Samvidhan Ka Amrut Mahotsav: Celebrating 75 Years
The nationwide celebrations, conducted under the Samvidhan Ka Amrut Mahotsav campaign, focused on honoring the monumental contributions of the framers of the Constitution. With the tagline, “Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhimaan,” the campaign reinforced the importance of preserving the core values that the Constitution embodies.
