Rising Tensions and Immediate Action
A high alert was declared in Barmer, Rajasthan, on Saturday morning, following the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. This marks the fourth consecutive day of heightened hostilities between the two nations. Authorities have instructed the immediate closure of all markets and urged residents to stay indoors for safety.
Urgent Notice from Authorities
Tina Dabi, the District Collector and Civil Defence Controller, issued a direct order for all residents to return home immediately. She emphasized that public movement should be halted and stressed the importance of enforcing these orders promptly, calling it an urgent notice to protect public safety.
Heightened Security Measures
In response to the alert, police and local authorities have ramped up security measures across Barmer. Patrolling has increased, and public address systems have been deployed to inform the public. Warning sirens were sounded to ensure everyone in the area was aware of the serious nature of the situation.
Markets Closed Across Multiple Districts
As a precautionary measure, markets in Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Sri Ganganagar have been closed, reflecting the widespread concern. The closure is intended to minimize public gatherings and ensure public safety.
Drone Attacks Attempted by Pakistan
On the night of Friday, Pakistan attempted several drone attacks targeting Jaisalmer and Barmer districts. The Indian Defence Forces successfully intercepted and neutralized the drones mid-air. Debris from the downed drones was found at different locations in both districts on Saturday morning. This further underscores the urgency of the high alert and the heightened security measures in place.
