The National Integration Tour, organized by the Indian Army’s Trishakti Corps, was officially flagged off by the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, at Raj Bhavan. This ten-day tour aims to foster national unity and provide students from Sikkim with an opportunity to explore the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of India. The tour will cover prominent Buddhist pilgrimage sites, including Nalanda, Rajgir, Gaya, Varanasi, Sarnath, Kushinagar, Sravasti, and Lucknow, before returning to Bengdubi.
A group of twenty students from Government Secondary School Karbey in Namchi District, all from remote areas of Sikkim, will take part in this unique journey. These students, who have never traveled outside the state, will be accompanied by two teachers. The group will be led by Major Anand Mohan Singh of the Indian Army.
During the event, Governor Mathur emphasized the educational value of the tour, highlighting that it offers the students a rare chance to broaden their horizons and deepen their understanding of India’s diverse cultures. He also wished them a safe and enriching journey and presented the students with travel bags and mementos as a gesture of encouragement. The flag-in ceremony will take place at the Sukna Headquarters Corps, marking the conclusion of the tour. This initiative reflects the Indian Army’s commitment to promoting national integration and cultural awareness among the youth.
