Heavy Snowfall in Upper Sikkim Suspends Permits to Nathula and Tsomgo Lake

Upper Sikkim has experienced heavy snowfall, leading to a significant drop in temperatures, as reported by officials. The snowfall, which occurred on Tuesday evening, has caused black ice to form at Thulo Khola, making the roads leading to Nathula and Tsomgo Lake unsafe for travel.

Efforts are ongoing to clear the snow, but it may take a day or two for the roads to become passable and safe. As a precaution, the Tourism Department has suspended the issuance of permits for Nathula and Tsomgo Lake until further notice.

Travelers are urged to stay informed about the conditions and remain cautious. The administration is closely monitoring weather and road conditions to ensure public safety.
